HUAWEI Digital Energy Layout: Converging Digital Technology and Power Electronics Technology

China exportsemi.com reported that not long ago, Mao Jie, deputy chief engineer of digital energy business of HUAWEI Digital Energy Technology Company, introduced HUAWEI digital energy business content and development strategic plan at the 2023 Greater Bay Area Digital Energy Industry Development Summit Forum. "Integrating digital technology and electronic technology, developing clean energy and energy digitalization, promoting energy revolution and building a green and bright future" is vision of HUAWE digital energy development.

"Bringing the digital world into everyone, every family and every organization, and building an intelligent world with the interconnected things" is the vision of HUAWEI. Focus on ICT technology and power electronics technology, and provide products, solutions and services for three types of customers, namely consumers, operators and government and enterprise customers.

As we all know, HUAWEI is a company that attaches great importance to the scientific and technological strength. The business development of HUAWEI has spread all over 170 + countries/regions, with 12 R&D centers and 1700 + patented technologies in the world. In words of HUAWEI employees, it means "where scientists are, HUAWEI will set the R&D center", which is R&D strategy of HUAWEI, that is, laying out the technological highland and leading the basic technology continuously.

It is reported that HUAWEI currently has 207,000 employees, with R&D personnel accounting for about 55.4%. In 2022, the total R&D investment was 161.5 billion yuan, ranking second in the global R&D investment. Looking back, the sales revenue in 2022 was 642.3 billion yuan, and the operating results were in line with expectations, which was a year for HUAWEI to gradually turn from danger to safety. Strong performance in many fields:

ICT infrastructure: Revenue and profit exceeded the target at the beginning of the year. China seized the opportunity of 5G scale construction and industry digitalization promotion, and the operator business grew steadily. The business of enterprises increased by 30%

Intelligent terminal: Further industry focus, product focus and regional focus, the annual performance has been greatly improved compared with the mid-year budget

Digital energy: Seize development opportunities, achieve accelerated growth and become the main engine of growth

Huawei Cloud: Continued to maintain rapid growth, and its profit performance exceeded expectations

Smart cars: Component competitiveness and user experience have improved significantly

Among them, after five years of development, the revenue of digital energy business will exceed 50.8 billion yuan in 2022, with a growth rate of 70%. Digital energy business of HUAWEI focuses on three major industries and continues to lead the development of the industries: intelligent photovoltaic, data center and key power supply, and intelligent electric power.

Speaking of "carbon neutrality", Shi Maojie said that "the industrial revolution is accompanied by the energy revolution, and the green, low-carbon and intelligent world will accelerate". At present, the world is experiencing the fifth industrial revolution. Generally speaking, the first two revolutions are accompanied by fossil energy, and since the third industrial revolution, it has also entered the period of clean energy revolution. "Carbon neutrality" has become the global consensus and mission, and it has triggered the global energy revolution and accelerated the low-carbon transformation of related industries. According to IRENA Outlook 2023 data, global carbon emissions mainly come from power, industry and transportation industries, which promotes the development of photovoltaic, energy storage, new energy vehicles, charging infrastructure, data centers and communication networks.

Digital energy development strategy of HUAWEI is to integrate digital technology and power electronics technology, develop clean energy and energy digitalization, promote energy revolution, focus on products and open ecosystem. The development route is from high carbon to low carbon, and then from low carbon to zero carbon. The development goal is to build three new infrastructures in the digital energy era, namely, new power system energy infrastructure-intelligent photovoltaic, new electric travel energy infrastructure-intelligent charging network and intelligent electric, and new digital industry energy infrastructure-data center energy, key power supply and site energy.

In intelligent photovoltaic, HUAWEI adopts an intelligent series energy storage technology, and solves the inconsistency and uncertainty of lithium batteries with the controllability of power electronics technology. This helps smart photovoltaic facilities to have higher returns, more investment, safer and more reliable, and achieve minimal operation and maintenance.

In the field of intelligent charging network, HUAWEI has adopted a new generation of full liquid cooling overcharge and integrated optical storage to build high-quality charging infrastructure. The current pain point of the industry is poor charging experience, can't fill, can't fill fast, can't rush well; operational challenges are great, low utilization rate, high failure rate, difficult to promote. HUAWEI full liquid cooling overcharge can just solve these problems. The charging speed can reach one second and one kilometer; Support 250kW full fast charging, fast charging + overcharging, and also support 600kW full overcharging; Ultra-long service life of 20 years; The turnover rate of charging station is doubled.

It is reported that as of June 2023, HUAWEI Digital Energy has helped customers produce 845.5 billion kWh of green electricity, save 35.5 billion kWh of electricity and reduce carbon emissions by 400 million tons, equivalent to 540 million trees. HUAWEI wants to help its customers achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and zero emission with its scientific and technological strength.
