NIO self-developed chip: one tops four Nvidia

April 20, in the azalea intelligent driving conference, NIO CEO Li Bin said, last year bought a lot of nvidia chips, which cost the company a lot of money, for this the company turned to self-research chip, because a chip can top four, so it can reduce costs.

With the rapid development of the intelligent electric vehicle industry, the importance of the chip as the core component of automotive intelligence is becoming increasingly prominent. Against this backdrop, Chinese electric car maker NIO has made a breakthrough in the field of self-developed chips, and its self-developed smart driving chip "Shengui NX9031" has become the center of attention in the industry.

NIO's "Shengui NX9031" chip utilizes an advanced 5nm automotive-grade process, integrating over 50 billion transistors, a 32-core CPU, a high-performance ISP, and a self-developed inference acceleration unit (NPU), and has a total power-performance of less than 4800. Performance is less than 4800, and it can flexibly and efficiently run all kinds of AI algorithms, providing powerful computing power support for intelligent driving.

Li Bin, founder of NIO, has emphasized the cost-effectiveness of self-developed chips on several occasions. He mentioned that NIO's goal is to use a self-developed chip to achieve the performance of the current industry's four flagship intelligent driving chips, which not only improves efficiency, but also significantly reduces costs. The NVIDIA Orin X chips previously used by NIO have an arithmetic power of about 250 TOPS each, while the arithmetic power of a single Shengui NX9031 chip rivals that of four Orin X chips, with an overall arithmetic power of more than 1,000 TOPS.

NIO has chosen to develop its own chips, a strategic move that reflects the company's commitment to technological innovation and independent research and development. Through independent research and development, NIO is able to better control costs, enhance the technological competitiveness of its products, and maintain its leading position in the field of intelligent driving technology. In addition, self-developed chips will help NIO reduce its dependence on external high-performance chips and enhance the stability of its supply chain.

The successful development and upcoming mass production of NIO's self-developed chip marks a new milestone for the company in the field of intelligent driving technology. This will not only enhance the market competitiveness of NIO's products, but will also promote the development of the entire intelligent electric vehicle industry. As autonomous driving technology continues to advance, self-developed chips will become one of the key factors for NIO and the entire automotive industry to enhance product competitiveness.
