It is reported that Renesas Electronics will be present at the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai from November 5th to 10th with a wide range of advanced solutions for the smart industry, Internet of Things (IoT) and automotive electronics.
The theme of Renesas' participation in the Fair is "Renewing the 'Core' to Build an Intelligent and Sustainable Society", and Renesas will bring a number of core products and technologies for the first time in the Chinese market, targeting a variety of application markets such as smart industry, IoT and automotive electronics, including the RA8 motor anomaly detection solution. Including RA8 motor anomaly detection solution, RA8 wheat wheel trolley solution, RA8 HMI solution, and RZ/V2L AI suite and solution, etc., the goal is to continue to help China's industry and society intelligent and sustainable development.

RA8 Motor Anomaly Detection: This solution consists of the RA8 Motor Control Development Kit combined with Reality AI software, enabling machine learning to run natively in the motor control board firmware, enabling predictive maintenance functions without additional sensors.
RA8 Wheelbarrow: The program is based on RA8 MCU, realizing offline voice command control of Wheelbarrow, realizing real-time wireless mapping and display on LAN with first-person vision camera through WIFI/SPI interface; the program is also equipped with LCD real-time display of the camera screen and its own cart status parameters, and real-time control of Wheelbarrow attitude and robotic arm objects through IMU unit. Grabbing and other functions.
RA8 HMI: The program realizes the display of LVGL graphical interface on high-resolution MIPI interface screen, which is suitable for medium and high-end HMI application scenarios.
In addition, Renesas Electronics will demonstrate a wide range of AI applications in the industrial and automotive fields, such as:
RZ/V2L AI kit and solution: The demo solution is based on the RZ/V2L AI kit, which is used to realize face recognition and gaze detection as well as driver monitoring system and 2D barcode recognition through DRP-AI (DRP: Dynamically Configurable Processor).

Overall, Renesas has combined the new RA8M1 product group of MCUs with a wide range of compatible devices in its portfolio to create a broad "success portfolio". These "Success Portfolios" are based on compatible devices that work seamlessly together, with technology-proven system architectures, resulting in optimized, low-risk designs for faster time-to-market. Renesas has now introduced more than 400 Success Portfolios based on a wide range of products in its portfolio, enabling customers to accelerate the design process and bring products to market faster.
Next Generation Automotive SoC and MCU Product Roadmap
In addition, Renesas Electronics has also made public its next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) and microcontroller (MCU) programs for all major applications in the automotive field at the Expo.
Renesas pre-announced information about its fifth-generation R-Car SoC, which is targeted at high-performance applications and utilizes advanced Chiplet small-chip package integration technology, which will bring vehicle engineers greater flexibility in their designs. For example, if an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) needs to take into account more prominent AI performance, engineers can integrate the AI gas pedal into a single chip.

Renesas also shared plans for two upcoming MCUs for the next-generation R-Car product family: a new crossover MCU family designed to create the high performance needed for domain and area electronic control units (ECUs) in the next-generation automotive E/E architecture, which will close the performance gap between traditional MCUs and advanced R-Car SoCs; and a standalone MCU platform tailored for vehicle control applications, which will be released at the same time. Renesas will also release a standalone MCU platform tailored for vehicle control applications. Both MCUs will utilize the Arm® architecture and will be key members of the outstanding R-Car product family, providing vehicle engineers with complete scalability options and software reusability.
As part of the product roadmap, Renesas plans to offer a virtual software development environment, in line with the automotive industry's well-known "left-shift" model. These software tools will allow customers to design and test software earlier in the development process.
Renesas has developed this roadmap based on years of collaboration and discussions with our Tier 1 and OEM customers," said Vivek Bhan, senior vice president of Renesas. The most common feedback we receive from our customers is the need to accelerate development without compromising quality. This means that software design and verification must be initiated before getting the hardware. As a result, we will continue to invest in our "left-shift" model and software-first innovation, deploying new scalable embedded processors and enhancing Renesas' already extensive network of development tools to help our customers achieve their goals."
As a global supplier of MCU products, the release of its next-generation product roadmap is something for domestic companies and engineers to keep an eye on and think about, in order to be ready to capitalize on the next industry opportunity.
