Huawei Finishing Largest Research and Develop Center in Shanghai

Huawei's Lianqiuhu R&D Center, a major investment project in Shanghai's Qingpu District, has been officially completed, marking an important step forward for the world's leading information and communication technology (ICT) company in the field of technological innovation. Since the start of construction in September 2021, the project has taken three years to overcome the impact of unfavorable factors such as the epidemic, and finally achieved the completion goal beyond expectations.

With a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan, covering an area of 2,400 mu and a total construction area of 2.06 million square meters, Huawei Lianqiuhu R&D Center is Huawei's largest and most advanced R&D base in the world. The R&D center is not only a key project in Shanghai, but also a highlight project of the Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone, and its completion is of great significance for promoting regional scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

The R&D center is well planned and divided into multiple regions and 8 groups, covering diversified functions such as corporate office, R&D pilot test, technology incubation, production services and supporting residences. Infrastructure such as internal roads, small trains, and elevated overpasses have all been connected, forming an efficient and convenient transportation network. At the same time, the Moon Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, Arch Bridge and other bridge projects across Lianqiu Lake have also entered the final stage, adding more beautiful scenery to the park.

It is worth mentioning that Huawei's Lianqiu Lake R&D Center has fully integrated environmental protection and humanistic concepts into the design and construction. The greening project in the park is in the final stage, Lianqiu Lake has begun to store water, and the whole park will become a green and ecological scientific research environment. In addition, Ren Zhengfei has previously said that Huawei will plan more than 100 cafes at its Qingpu base in Shanghai to create an atmosphere suitable for foreign scientists to work and live, where talents can collide ideas and stimulate innovation.

Huawei's Lianqiuhu R&D Center will bring together R&D capabilities in multiple fields, such as HiSilicon, wireless, flagship mobile phones, intelligent driving/automotive components, and digital energy, to provide stronger support for Huawei's growing businesses, such as 5G-A/6G, digital energy, and smart car solutions. The R&D center is expected to attract about 35,000 Huawei R&D talents, becoming an important engine for Huawei's technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

With the completion of Huawei's Lianqiuhu R&D Center, Huawei is expected to remove the current Shanghai R&D base in Jinqiao and move to a new location. This initiative will further optimize Huawei's R&D resource allocation and improve its overall R&D efficiency and innovation capabilities.

The completion of Huawei's Lianqiu Lake R&D Center is an important milestone in Huawei's development history, and a strong proof of Huawei's continuous investment and breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation. In the future, Huawei will continue to uphold the core values of "customer-centric, striver-oriented, long-term hard work, and self-criticism", continue to promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and provide better products and services to customers around the world.
