Onsemi Introduces Data Center Power Solutions

Onsemi reportedly says its latest-generation T10 PowerTrench family and EliteSic 650V MOSFETs have created a solution for AI data centers that can deliver unmatched efficiency and high thermal performance in a smaller footprint.

First, the combination of the T10 PowerTrench family and EliteSiC 650V MOSFET technology can significantly reduce power loss in the data center. It is estimated that the implementation of this solution in data centers around the world could reduce energy consumption by about 10 terawatt hours per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of millions of homes.

EliteSiC 650V MOSFETs offer superior switching performance and lower device capacitance, which enables data centers and energy storage systems to achieve higher efficiency. The next-generation silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs halve the gate charge while reducing the energy stored in both the output capacitance (Eoss) and output charge (Qoss) by 44% compared to the previous generation.

The T10 PowerTrench series is designed to handle high currents and achieves ultra-low gate charge and RDS(on) of less than 1 mOhm through its shielded gate trench design. These features not only increase power density, but also improve thermal performance and reduce the overall energy consumption of the system.
