ROHM Semiconductor and Valeo, a leading global automotive technology company, announced that they will deepen their collaboration to combine their respective expertise in power electronics management to jointly develop and optimize power modules for the next generation of electric motor inverters. As a first step in the collaboration, ROHM will supply Valeo with its innovative 2-in-1 silicon carbide (SiC) module TRCDRIVE, which will enable the evolution of future powertrain solutions.
Driving innovation in efficient e-mobility technologies
Valeo is committed to expanding the range of its efficient e-mobility solutions to cover all types of vehicles, from e-bikes to e-trucks. By combining Valeo's expertise in mechatronics, thermal management and software development with ROHM's expertise in power modules, the two companies will work together to advance power electronics and provide more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for the global automotive industry, helping to improve system performance and accelerate decarbonization.
Since 2022, ROHM and Valeo have established a strategic partnership, initially through technical exchanges with a focus on improving the performance and efficiency of motor inverters. As the core component of the propulsion system of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the improvement of motor inverter technology will directly affect the efficiency and economy of electric mobility. Together, ROHM and Valeo hope to improve energy efficiency and optimize the cost/performance ratio with the help of advanced power electronics, while reducing heat generation and improving overall system reliability.

High power density and high efficiency improve the automotive powertrain
Wolfram HARNACK, President of ROHM Semiconductor GmbH, said: "We are very pleased to be able to supply Valeo, a world-renowned automotive supplier, with our power semiconductors. ROHM's TRCDRIVE modules significantly improve power efficiency due to their high-power density. By working closely with Valeo, we are jointly driving the development of efficient powertrains that will revolutionize future automotive power electronics."
Xavier DUPONT, CEO of Valeo Power, added: "This partnership represents an important step forward for Valeo Power in the supply of advanced and efficient power electronics. "Together with ROHM, we look forward to setting a new industry standard for high-voltage inverters and accelerating the transition to more efficient and cost-effective electric vehicles."
Meet the future demands of the electric vehicle market
This collaboration is essential to meet the growing market demand, especially in the areas of long-range, efficient charging and BEV (battery electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) inverters, where consumers and manufacturers are increasingly demanding high performance and low cost. The joint effort between ROHM and Valeo aims to optimize the energy efficiency and miniaturization of the inverter and make it more suitable for the challenges of the future e-mobility market.
Valeo plans to begin deliveries of the first series in early 2026. Through this partnership, ROHM and Valeo will actively contribute to the improvement and miniaturization of next-generation xEV inverter technology, and jointly promote the development of the electric vehicle industry in a more efficient and sustainable direction.
