SemiQ Introduces 1700V SiC Schottky Diode Discrete Devices and Bidirectional Diode Modules

SemiQ is a company that designs, develops, and manufactures silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors and 150mm SiC epitaxial wafers for high-voltage applications. The company recently introduced 1700V SiC Schottky diode discrete devices and bidirectional diode modules, providing a new solution for modern applications with high efficiency and high voltage requirements.

It is reported that SemiQ's new products have the following significant features:

High voltage rating: The voltage level of 1700V makes it suitable for high voltage applications such as solar inverters, electric vehicles, industrial motor drives, etc.

Silicon Carbide (SiC) Technology: SiC materials are known for their properties such as high thermal conductivity, high breakdown field strength, and high electron mobility, bringing high efficiency and reliability to devices.

The Schottky diodes in Schottky barrier diode modules provide low forward voltage drop and fast switching speeds, helping to reduce power losses and improve system performance.

Bidirectional Diode Modules: Bidirectional diode configurations provide a compact and efficient solution for applications that require bidirectional current flow, such as power conversion and energy storage systems.

Durability and reliability: Designed to withstand high temperatures and harsh environments, these components are built for long-term reliability in demanding applications.

High energy efficiency: The use of SiC technology helps improve energy efficiency compared to traditional silicon-based devices.

Application flexibility: Suitable for a wide range of applications from solar inverters to battery chargers and grid-tied systems, it offers versatility in design and implementation.

The SiC Schottky diode discrete devices and bidirectional diode modules introduced by SemiQ are expected to have a positive impact on the power electronics market. They will provide engineers and system designers with more options to create efficient, compact, and reliable power systems. The high voltage capability and SiC technology of these components will be particularly attractive to applications where performance and durability are critical.

As the demand for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies continues to grow, the role of SiC components in the field of power electronics is expected to expand. SemiQ's new offerings are well positioned to meet these market needs and contribute to the development of green energy and sustainable technologies.

It is reported that these two products use rugged modules in SOT-227 packages. The maximum forward currents of 110A and 214A respectively combine excellent performance at high frequencies with low-loss operation.

According to SemiQ's president, SemiQ's new 1700V SiC diode offers a quantum leap in power efficiency. With its compact and flexible design, low-loss operation, and superior thermal management, the QSiC diode enables customers to create new high-performance solutions while reducing costs and improving overall system efficiency.
