Under the guidance of the Department of Electronic Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association held an important meeting in Beijing - a seminar on the efficiency calibration of photovoltaic cells. The convening of this meeting is not only an affirmation of the technological progress of China's photovoltaic industry, but also a deep reflection and positive response to the problems existing in the development of the industry.
In recent years, with the rapid development of high-efficiency cell technologies such as TOPCon and HJT, the photovoltaic industry has made remarkable achievements in technological innovation. However, the ensuing problems such as non-standard battery technology efficiency calibration, storage downshifts, and exaggerated publicity have also posed challenges to the healthy development of the industry. The existence of these problems not only affects the setting of technical indicators of relevant national industry management policies, but also has a negative impact on the credibility of photovoltaic cell testing efficiency.

During the meeting, the participating experts reached an important consensus after in-depth discussions. First of all, the method of backwards and requirements for cell efficiency based on module packaging CTM is considered to be unscientific and reasonable, and cannot truly reflect the technological innovation achievements of the module side. Secondly, the current phenomenon that the test efficiency of photovoltaic cells, mainly TOPCon, is significantly higher than the storage efficiency, which is considered abnormal and non-standardized.
In order to solve these problems, the meeting called on enterprises and industries to work together to return the test efficiency of photovoltaic cells, mainly TOPCon, to the true value as soon as possible. At the same time, metrology and testing institutions should also improve the capacity building of measurement and testing, improve measurement technology, strengthen the ability training of testing personnel, improve the level of integrity, and benchmark with international counterparts, take test results seriously, and eliminate and resist irresponsible and arbitrary provision of conversion efficiency world record test results.
In addition, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association plans to explore the formation of a working group in the next step to promote the comparison of measurement and testing institutions, and include photovoltaic cells in the scope of annual photovoltaic product quality supervision and inspection. This measure will undoubtedly help improve the standardization level of the entire industry and promote the standardized and healthy development of the industry.
The convening of the meeting was actively attended by representatives from 20 units, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Trina Solar, Tongwei Co., Ltd., Jinko Solar, and LONGi Green Energy. The participation of these scientific research institutes, photovoltaic enterprises, and measurement and testing institutions not only reflects the great importance that the industry attaches to this issue, but also shows the determination and action of all sectors of the industry to jointly promote the standardization and high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry.
In general, the convening of the seminar on the efficiency calibration of photovoltaic cells marks that China's photovoltaic industry has shown the courage and wisdom of self-innovation and self-improvement in the face of the challenges brought about by technological progress. Through the joint efforts of both inside and outside the industry, we have reason to believe that the photovoltaic industry will be able to overcome the current difficulties and usher in a more standardized and healthy development future.
