VisIC Partners with Heraeus and PINK to Deliver High Power Density BEV Power

In the context of the rapid development of the global new energy vehicle industry, there is a growing demand for high-efficiency and high-reliability power modules. In July 2024, three industry leaders, VisIC Technologies, Heraeus Electronics, and PINK GmbH Thermosysteme, announced a collaboration to jointly develop a new high-power-density power module that brings a breakthrough technological revolution to the electric vehicle (BEV) industry.

VisIC Technologies, a leader in gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology, marks a leap forward in power conversion with its D3GaN technology. This technology not only deeply explores the infinite potential of GaN materials in terms of electrical performance, but also leads the trend of innovation in electric vehicle powertrains with ultra-high-speed switching response and excellent power carrying capacity.

Heraeus Electronics, with its excellence in material science and packaging technology, has laid a solid foundation for this innovation. Its carefully developed encapsulation material is like a layer of tough armor for the power module, ensuring stable and efficient performance under extreme operating conditions, and greatly extending the service life of the product.

PINK GmbH Thermosysteme, a leader in sintering technology, takes the thermal and electrical conductivity of power modules to new heights with its innovative silver sintering process. This kind of precision connection achieved at low temperature not only enhances the tightness and reliability of the internal components of the module, but also virtually improves the energy efficiency ratio of the overall system, providing strong technical support for the long-distance range and fast charging of electric vehicles.

The perfect integration of the three technologies not only achieves this high-performance power module that exceeds the 500Arms/650V power level, but also catches up with or even surpasses the silicon-based devices in terms of cost control.
